Although we generally do whatever is necessary to avoid removing a tooth, it is sometimes necessary. A badly cracked or decayed tooth or a wisdom tooth that is posing problems for the rest of the mouth is best removed to prevent further damage. TMJ Treatment

The temporomandibular joint is what allows the lower jaw to move during such activities as speaking and chewing. Temporomandibular joint disorder, often referred to as TMJ or TMD, can have symptoms ranging from clicking or popping noises during jaw movement to pain or tenderness around the jaw, face, neck, or ears.

Dr. Barry Dubin has undergone special training beyond his general dentistry education that allows him to diagnose and treat this condition. Dental emergencies require the same prompt attention as other medical emergencies to avoid permanent damage or tooth loss. Patients who have broken or knocked out a tooth, damaged a restoration, or are suffering from serious tooth, gum, or jaw pain should call our office immediately. If the emergency takes place during regular office hours, we can usually see the patient that day. If the emergency happens outside of normal business hours, the recording on our voice mail will instruct the patient about what to do next.
