Dental Implants Philadelphia

At Dentistry For Life, we are committed to becoming your all-in-one dental care destination. We provide services ranging from routine dental exams to complex smile makeovers using multiple cosmetic and restorative procedures. We are pleased to include implant dentistry with high-quality dental tooth implants at our Philadelphia practice, allowing patients with missing teeth to dramatically improve their smiles.

The Dental Implant Difference

It is very important to replace teeth that are missing, for a number of reasons. Tooth replacements improve speaking and chewing ability and prevent surrounding teeth from shifting position. Although several tooth replacement options are available, none is as comfortable, durable, and natural looking as dental implants and no other is able to inhibit the bone loss that often occurs as a result of missing teeth.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Unlike more traditional restorations, dental implants do not require other teeth for attachment or support. And because dental implants are fixed firmly in the jaw, they do not shift or slip during eating, talking, or laughing. They also do not require special equipment for care and cleaning, which makes maintaining enhanced smiles easy and convenient. In replacing the root as well as the crown of the missing tooth, dental implants look, function, and feel more like a natural tooth than any other tooth replacement option.

The Dental Implant Placement Procedure

With the assistance of Dr. Jay Friedman, an implant dentistry specialist, we can place dental implants right here at our Philadelphia practice. Dr. Friedman, who became acquainted withDr. Barry Dubin at the renowned Misch International Institute of Dental Implantology, travels to our office from his practice in California once a month. During these visits, he performs the surgical placement of dental implant anchors for our patients.

The anchor, which is usually made of titanium, must be surgically inserted into the jawbone. Over time, the jaw will heal around the anchor, actually fusing with it and holding it securely in place. After the anchor has fused with the jawbone and the gum tissue has healed, a porcelain dental crown is affixed to the post, which extends from the anchor above the gum line.

Caring for Your Implants

Dental implants should be cared for with the same methods as natural teeth. Twice daily brushing, daily flossing, and regular dental exams should keep dental tooth implants and surrounding tissues in good condition.
