Botulinum Toxin

Gummy Smile

A gummy smile is a condition where the smile tends to look less interesting because of too much of gum visible. Ideally about 2mm of gums should be visible for the smile to look beautiful. A gummy smile may sometimes be caused by patient's upper lip raising too high when he/she smiles exposing more of gums. Botox or botulinum toxin can be used to transform such gummy smiles. The toxin when injected to upper lip ensures that the lip does not rise as high as it normally does. This is done by reducing the movement of muscles in the upper lips. The procedure is perfectly safe and the results are excellent.

Crow's Feet

Squinting, smiling and frowning are three expressions that are known to cause crow's feet. Unlike other parts of the face, the skin on the outer edges of the eyes is quite thin. Therefore this part is at higher risk of getting wrinkles. Other reasons for crow's feet are known to be sleeping on the side and too much exposure to sunlight which results in generation of free radicals that damage the skin. Botox is an FDA approved drug that can be used to temporarily paralyze the muscles to treat crow's feet and achieve smooth skin.

Frontalis and Glabella

The forehead is one of the most visible parts of the face. Wrinkles in this part can be highly undesirable from cosmetic perspective. According to doctors and researchers exposure of skin to UV rays from sun, genetic aging, hormonal aging, and frowning can lead to formation of wrinkles in forehead. Botox can be used to treat this condition. A small dose of Botox can temporarily relax the muscles, reducing their movement. This can make the skin smoother and wrinkle-free.

Dimple Chin

Dimple chin may look good on some people but unwanted dimpling in some cases is cosmetically unpleasing. The condition is also called orange peel chin. This occurs rarely in some people due contraction of muscles in the chin. Botox can be used effectively to treat this condition. The use of Botox helps in keeping the muscle relaxed and smooth. Although this is a temporary solution, it can work well along with certain habitual changes.

TMJ/ Headache/ Orofacial Pain Therapy

TMJ, Migraine, common headache and other types of orofacial pains form a cluster of pains that are caused in muscles surrounding the head. Each condition is different from the other. TMJ is a condition that can lead to pain in masticatory muscles. Migraines are a type of headache which have nausea, sensitivity to light and vomiting as their symptoms. Botox can be an effective treatment for all these problems. The toxin helps reduce pain in the facial muscles. Our dentist can perform thorough diagnosis to tell you if the toxin can work to reduce your pain.
